Bio_Solid_Fuel
Solid-BioFuel

Agricultural residuals are collected from plantations and transformed by a (patented) torrefaction technology into Solid-BioFuel.

Solid-BioFuel, which has a high calorific value (21 GJ per metric ton), can be used for co-firing in both biomass boilers and in coal-fired power plants, without any technical modifications to the boilers. CO2 chain analyses (source: several universities) prove a significantly smaller carbon footprint for Solid-BioFuel than coal or wood pellets.

Benefits

– Solid-BioFuel contains hardly any moisture and is efficient to transport and to store.
– Pre-treatment costs at power. plants will be reduced/eliminated
– An expected drop of 70% for grinding costs. (High Grindability).
– Hydrophobic nature.
– No biological activity.
– No technical modifications. required as it can be used for co-firing with coal using already existing injection systems and boilers.
– CO2 reduction, contribution to a sustainable and greener world.

Besides SOLID (by AB-i), the company uses the same agricultural residues for the production of TERRA (by AB-i), a true soil-improver, which leads to considerable agricultural yield increase.

By using the agricultural residues for BioChar, there is no need for plantations to burn material in a site, which can result in a haze. TERRA (by AB-i) contains no diseases and cannot decay. Several studies have cited moisture and nutrients retention as key factors for yield increase. Apart from this, TERRA (by AB-i) can improve surface infiltration of water. We provide two qualities; standard (TERRAS -S) and premium (TERRA -P), containing organic potassium.

We support our customers in collecting agricultural residues, but we also encourage and help them planting Bana Grass on their own land.

Bana Grass grows fast and can be harvested a couple of time a year, hence producing quite some feedstock for pyrolysis.
